Data Science

How do we extract knowledge from complex,
short-lived and unstructured data?

Data Science

Data Science deals with large data volumes as well as high data rates and inconsistent data sources and thus represents a cross-sectional discipline from a scientific perspective.

Many facets of data science are already represented in Hamburg’s computer science department, spread across the universities.
The innovation potential, the increasing relevance and the upcoming need for investment in the context of digitization, especially among business-related service providers, in the public sector and among energy and water suppliers, is enormous and a task for society as a whole.

Smart Open Hamburg

Electromobility, transport and logistics and the coordination of major events pose enormous challenges for political decision-makers, authorities, planning and crisis management teams and representatives of industry. With the research project „SmartOpenHamburg – A multi-modal decision support system for the Hamburg metropolitan region“ HAW Hamburg, in cooperation with the University of Hamburg, wants to create a tool that supports organisational and logistical decision-making processes.
